GAEREA's much-desired appearance at the EVILLIVE FESTIVAL promises to be one of the event's highlights

Formed in 2016 in the bustling city of Porto, GAEREA stood out early on as one of the emerging forces in the international extreme music underground. Shrouded in mystery, with its members protected by masks and hidden identities, the group has chosen to turn the spotlight away from individual figures to focus entirely on its music and message. This anonymity reflects one of the collective's greatest aspirations: to create a universal experience that transcends personalities and borders. Supported by a sound that dives deep into the duality between the raw aggression of black metal and very introspective and melancholic soundscapes, the musicians transport the listener to a universe of complex emotions, where despair, anger and reflection coexist in an incredibly solid whole. Enigmatic lyrics, full of symbolism and existentialism, serve as a window onto themes such as alienation, human suffering and the fight against apathy. With the release of their first eponymous EP in 2016, GAEREA established their unique artistic identity. However, it was with their debut album, 2018's «Unsettling Whispers», that they solidified their reputation as a name to really reckon with. International consolidation came with «Limbo», where they explored new layers of dynamism, striking a balance between melody and brutality. «Mirage» and the most recent, and much acclaimed, «Coma» reaffirmed the band's status as visionaries, attracting even more attention globally.
